TR6 Radiator protection shield differences

Curious to know; TRF lists both a standard radiator protection shield and a reinforced late model. The standard is listed for TR6's up through 1974 and the reinforced part is listed for 1975/76. The wording on the TRF website is that the reinforced part can be retrofitted to earlier models. The reinforced part is less expensive and I like the word 'reinforced'. I have a 1973 and wondered if anyone else has fit a late model shield to an earlier version to know what is involved in the retrofit.
