What should the pressure rating on the pressure cap of a B. I have an octagon shaped one that lists it as 16 lbs but I thought that was a bit high for the B.

Bit high - 13 to 14, I think.

For some reason I thought it was around 5 lbs?

Think I was remembering my XJ6...here ya go:

'62-'67...7psi
'68-'75....10psi
'76....13psi
'77-'80....15psi

I have a 7 pound cap on mine. No problems.

I found this cool octagon shaped cap and was cleaning it up to paint it and see that its says 16 lbs on it. I don't want to blow a gasket or something.

Vince, I use Stant caps. I guess because my son sells them.

I use the lever type, 7 lbs pressure on the "B".

They also have the hex one, which with a little ingenuity could be made to look like the MG logo.

Pictured on the bottom is the one that I have but it is rated at 15lbs. I thought it seemed high but if useable, I'll use it.
