hello all, installing elect. fan in place of eng. driven fan, the water pump pulley hits the fan, is there an easy way to move the rad. foward or should i do something else. thanks

What year car? Cross flow or vertical?

I have a 10" fan behind my vertical flow radiator. It fit without modification.

Simple, Use a post 75 radiator shroud to move it forward.

ok that sounds easy, now i get to go on the hunt for a post 75 shroud. thanks trevor

You'll also need to hunt a few longer hoses, but that is no big deal.

I set mine up with the fan in front of the radiator and converted it to pusher.

Yep, pusher might be easier.. I got a 12" fan to fit a vert flow with a bit of trimming and modified the hood release a bit  bent slightly upward

Pushers are easier, put they obstruct air flow when driving. I think a puller is a better choice if it can be done.

I opted for a pusher arrangement on the B a few years ago. It allows the existing fan to be kept, as long as there's some traffic progress the electric one doesn't seem to affect the air flow much. In stop-n-go traffic I switch the electric one on anyway. Helps a BUNCH here in Florida in July.

I opted for a 10" puller rather than a 12" pusher. By eliminating the mechanical fan I freed up some HP (maybe not much, but every little bit helps). I considered the pusher, but when I looked at how much it was going to disrupt the air flow I decided that a puller would be better. It seems to be working great. My car runs at 180-185 at speed and never gets above 190ish after coming to a stop after a hard run.

Maybe a pusher would do just as well for my car, but so much of the advice I read was in favor of the puller that I couldn't simply ignore it.

I will have to look at my car again but i don't think my elect. fan will fit as a pusher, this is a 74 with a crossflow rad.

hello all, just an update and a big thanks to trevor, took your advice and got the rubber bumper surround ,got everything back in with over an inch between elect. fan and pulley thanks again.

Glad it worked out. What type of fan/switch are you using?

the fan is one i got off ebay, I just used one of the extra fuse spots that ran when the ignition switch is on.
