TR2/3/3A Radiator fan temp probe

I inadvertently crimped the end of the radiator temp probe for the electric fan when I removed it to have the radiator reconditioned. Is there a way to check its functioning? Its two wires showed no continuity when the probe was placed in a pan of 200 degree water. Should it function that way?

Depends on the probe. Some of them (like the DeRale I bought for a Stag) are not switches but rather thermistors (resistors that change value depending on temperature). A continuity tester may show them as open even when they are functioning correctly.

My suggestion is to measure the resistance cold first, then heat it up again and see if it changes. If it changes, most likely the probe is OK.

Randal, I checked continuity with an ohm meter which gave no reading. Think I'm out of luck.

Yup, sounds like it.
