radiator air shield wire placement

64 bj8. I am reinstalling the air shield that goes in front of the radiator. I'm not sure where the wires that run along the top, that exit on both the right and left side for the lights, are run.
Can you tell me where the wires go?

I can run them through the v or behind.
I've placed them in both places, as an example to show you.

Photo # 001, right side of car, through the v-cut?(photo attached here)
Photo #002, left side of car, behind the front?(photo attached next post)

Any clip used to hold the wires? (i've tried using a clip and placing it behind the metal, as shown here)

Thank you, Roger

Photo 002, left side of car, behind the metal.

I've wraped both wires with black duct tape to protect them, untill I know where to run them.

Or maybe I am running them both in the wrong place?
Roger

Roger,

I have my harness running like your Photo 002.

Cheers,
John

Thanks John. What about harness clips, like the one used in photo 001?

When I went to reinstall, I found I used masking tape to tape the clip to the wiring harness. One clip per side. I took the car apart so long ago, I can't remember why I taped the clips to the harness.

Hi Roger,

I have run this section of harness (above the radiator) but have not installed the deflector assembly yet. I have the two harness clips that you show along the top but not the clip you show under the deflector on photo 001. When I pulled my old harness I put twist ties on every point where a clip goes (maybe you used the masking tape in the same way). On the passenger side (left hand drive) the harness *may* go over the heater intake opening and I will be checking a very original BJ8, hopefully this weekend for this detail and others. In the meantime, here is a picture that someone posted on the forum last year which shows the general routing.

Hi John, that photo helps a lot. I did note that the X brace in front of the radiator needs to be painted black. He may not have done it yet. Sharing what I've learned along the way.

You see blk duct tape around my harnes, just to protect it from the edge, while I'm figuring things out. It will be removed when placed where it should be. Zip ties, I'd rather use if I have too, same as you. Tape will most likely unglue itself with time and free itself and look ratty.

Thank you for posting the photo. A picture is worth a thousand words they say. I'll pick up other pieces of info from that photo.
Cheers, Roger

What I find freaky is if you look straight back in the mirror, you don’t see the photographer. Hmmmm, that John Loftus is a cagey one. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yesnod.gif

How come John has so many AHs and I only have one Bugeye. Gesh, some guys are hoging them.

Yea .. that's my little collection! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Actually the photo comes from https://www.dreamsonwheels.com/healeys.html
which show some good restoration sequence shots. Not everything is concours but the overall idea is there.

And Greg .. you can see the photographer in the mirror .. at least the shorts and part of the shirt.

Cheers,
John
