Rack & Pinion Steering question, 1500 midget

So, for the first time in over a year, I took my midget for a short drive... Drove nice, good power with the rebuilt motor, handled great with all new suspension parts.

Got back home and jacked up the front end to do some minor work. When I set the car back down, the steering wheel is now no longer straight. It's off by about 20 degrees to the left. I thought this odd and pulled the steering wheel and re-aligned it. Jacked the car up again and when I set it back down again, same thing.

I'm thinking it's got to be something with the rack, but what? has anyone else ever experienced this? I've never seen anything like this happen, so I'm at a loss as to what is going on.

All help would be appreciated. I'd hate to be driving down the road and something fail.

Haha, quit jacking the car up.

No really, make sure the wheels are straight ahead then align the wheeel since you already had it off. Both wheels straight ahead, do some measureing.

doesn'tmake sense that the steering would change simply from jacking the car up and then down. unless you have noticable play, the column to rack connection should be tight.
