I *think* I can justify this link under the British Racing section since it does show me passing Bruce's 1275 Mini about a minute into the video.

This was practice at Summit Point a few weeks ago in my Twin Cam Escort (GT). My Spridget is virtually identical in performance to Bruce's Mini, so I guess the Escort is faster.
Actually, Bruce co-drove the Escort in our 4-Hour and he said it was a lot faster.

The only problem was that eventually, the Escort had no brakes until after the first pump...so that kept us driving pretty easy. We were only out there to have fun anyway (which we did).

In this particular part of the vid, I had a student driver in a 1600 Miata behind me doing a lead-follow. This was his first time out (other than an HPDE) and he did not know Summit at all.
I was also talking it real easy in the Escort, since I was trying to save it for the 4-Hour later that day. You can tell because the shift light (6500 RPM) never went on once.
The Escort is bone stock and was still pretty quiet since we never took the Lime Rock muffler off.

Here's a map of Summit Point...in case you want to compare the this to the video. The vid starts at the right hander at the end of the Main Straight.

Nial,

Pretty cool!,but I'd like to see one of you
in "Race Mode" - "goin for it"!
Man, I miss racing!

Nice video, Nial. The dash on that car brings back memories -- my first car was a hand-me-down '90 Escort wagon with a 5-speed. Funny to think of racing one, though it makes perfect sense.

Nial, you really gave your student a great line to follow.

You should clean the beer cans out of the cockpit before you go out, though. They rattle around on sharp turns.

Too many Miatas, Nial! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif
The track couldn't have been very sticky. I saw a lot of very early braking.
Summit looks a lot nicer than it did years ago. I alaways said it was like racing in a gravel pit!

It was cold that weekend, a few minutes of sleet on Sunday. I found the limit of adhesion coming out if the carousel. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif

/bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/lol.gif I used to LOVE ice racing!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif
