I KNOW that Tony would never approve of such and arrangement, BUT it works for me.......

The mounting ears are gone from my grill and I hold it in place with a couple of Ty-Wraps. With the hood closed no one can even see or tell any difference other than that the grill is recessed instead of out flush(ish). And the wisdom of such an arrangement proved itself again today. I had one light not working on low beam which means a loose wire not a burned out bulb (for me anyway, its easier to check the wiring). So I cut the Ty-Wraps, found the loose connection, put it all back together and Bob's your Uncle.

Grill in #909 is totally held in with zip ties.

They're holding on a lot of other stuff on my car too.

Considering the build quality of our cars when originally assembled I'm sure that if BL had know about tie wraps and they were cheaper than screws they would have been original equipment. My grill is held in by screws, but they're certainly not original, just some old metric stuff that I found in the spare parts box with a couple of speed nut clips on the tabs, and of course these are only at the top, nothing at the bottom anymore.

where would I find the torque settings for tie wraps? :lol:

Heck you can even get them in racing green, fire engine red, and midnight black!
some of this and a few rolls of marching duct tape It also come in the afore mentioned colors and you have race fab at it's best!

where would I find the torque settings for tie wraps? :lol:

1. Ifin' the part in question stays put an don't rattle too much, they is torqued enuf.

2. Ifin' they snap when ya pull on em with the pliars, ya torqued em too tight!!

3. Ifin they fit pretty good, but rattle a little bit, apply duck tape to offending area.

Our race car has zip ties and so does anyone I have ever gotten a chance to look at closely.
