I'm here at the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix, a two-weekend racing event.
Anyway, my friend Tom blew the engine in his very nice MGB on the first weekend. Since we had the week free, we decided to swap it with his spare engine....which was back in New Jersey, seven hours (one way) away.
So Tom raced back to NJ in his Suburban, and 14 hours of driving later, returned with the spare.
Luckily Michael Oritt was friends with Bret, a local race shop owner who let us use his hoist and spare bay.
It was fun hanging out with Michael and Tom while doing this task. Bret helped too. Linda hung out in Bret's a/c office reading her Nook and went out to get us food after we got the bad engine out.
We pulled the engine and trans together to do this (Tom's preference). It was a little tricky getting the long OD trans back in, but we managed without putting a scratch on the car.
Now, onto the second weekend of ~Racing~ at Schenley Park.
