Does anyone know how to paint orginal Bugeye air filters. As I remember it was kind of a silver but was splotched.

HUH!! Midget's are black....

Silver Hamertone. Thanks.

Also called Hammerite and do watch as it comes in a bronze, silver, and some other colors. Available were ever spray bombs are sold.

Aye, will try Ace in the morning. It is closer.

Time to make Miss Agatha more show ready I think. Also must get a fire ext. I was told that was why I was second rather than first.

Okay, everybody....what color are your Midget air cleaners?

Every one I've got on the self are black......

Bugeyes are different Tony. Yours should be black mine are silver pancakes.

Tony,

Most original bugeye's I've seen have a pancake type filter that as noted were painted a hammerite color, where as all later spridgets had coopers cans which were black.

Okay, just checking.....

Don't panic quite yet Tony. I will schedule an inspection at a later date.

With all the things wrong with that TF, they docked you for no fire extinguisher? What kind of judging is that? CRAP - that's what kind!!

Jack-There might be a Duplicolor product that would work. I saw something this morning on one of the car shows on TV about it. 2 stages in a can. Paint the first part black, then the second the silver metallic look.

The fine print rules said fire extinguisher and safety kit. I had the safety kit but forgot the fire extinguisher, my bad. Also did not have a spare tire and such don't know if they caught that.

What kind of show requires stuff like that? & even if they want modern safety equipment, it has nothing to do with concours quality!

See, crap like that is why I rarely do car shows!

You took the words right out of my mouth. Seems a little ridiculous to lose points in a show because you didn't bring a fire extinguisher.

Rules the rule. I knew it and forgot. Will pick one just for Miss Agatha at K Mart tomorrow. It will stay in the car along with my first aid kit and spare fan belt. That's the only spare I carry under the drivers seat.

Don't ask why, it's an embarsing story.

Jack

My experience with the hammerite in the rattle can is that it's somewhat difficult to get a uniform appearence. Find something to practice on before spraying the filters.
