Looks to me like it is just a place to mount a pipe going to a catch can. It isn't worth the price in my opinion, 'cause a person can build a similar setup for less that $10 and a couple minutes with a welder. It says its baffled so I suppose that is what keeps the oil in. Piece of sheet metal shrouding the vent hole.

They are very nice peices, yeah you can make something from your original block off plate, but it won't be as nice as these units are. For less than $50, I think it's a bargain.

Oh and venting crankcase pressure directly from the block in my opinion, it doesn't get any better than that.
 
If you want to dry up the leaks, use this little thingy to connect to a gulp valve for maximum benefit. Just venting to the atmosphere is only doing half the job.

Ok one end of the gulp valve would go to the new fuel pump hole pressure releafe unit.

Where does the other end go for testing purposes? Have no desire to drill a hole in my manifold.
 
I may be dumb, but what is the purpose of going to a gulp valve without going to the manifold?

My thoughts exactly, my valve cover pressure releif tube goes to the front carb air filter, guess I could route the fuel pump hole one with a Y to the same filter just for grins.
 
Jack, wouldn't a 1098 PCV valve work?
 
Prob, but would not a direct shot without the valve work better from the air cleaner?

According to what I researched the shot to the air cleaner should be just fine for my application.

Where does the 1098 valve hook up to get vacumn?
 
Ahh, that's a 1275 manifold. Yep. Bugeye 948 has no place to tap in. Got to use the direct shot to the air cleaner.

If you are going to test a PCV set-up just use a common Autozone PCV valve- the BMC one is far too expensive and cumbersome to waste money on unless you want it to look "concours" (on a 948??).

The problem with installing a true PCV valve on a 948 is that you either have to change to a later manifold, or modify the existing one.
Neither is an insurmountable problem, but I would be inclined to take a "wait and see" attitude regarding the blowby~ring seating issue.
