It looks like this leg of the loom goes to the dimmer switch except the wires are the wrong color. Note there is a few wires on the left side of the pic as well?

The wireing diagram shows the dip switch as a Blue, BlueWhite, and a BlueRed wire and I should think it should be a preaty good size wire as it goes to the headlights.

On the end of my loom where what I thought the dip switch went is a black, Red, and GreenRed light weight wire no terminals on the ends.

Have I gone nuts?

Now back from the end a ways (two feet) is a double black wire, a bluewhite, and a bluered heavy wire with plug terminals on the ends.

Hehe, how can this be? What the heck is going on here?

Jack, I really hope that you are not using those generic crimp on electrical connectors sitting there. Not only are they guaranteed to generate smoke, they are substandard even for Lucas.

I was going to but decided something was wrong wrong wrong. Durned if I know what it is though.

The rest of the loom has connections alreay on it where it needs them and bare wires where it is fited to screw in terminals like the regulator.

This surely has me baffled.

Looking on page 63 of the Moss catalog. It shows a dimmer switch Harness PN 356-825. I know I did not get one of those. Now I wonder, I wonder where the other part of this harnes goes.

I think a call to Moss tech section is in order.

Well, made the call, sigh. They surely tried to help but did not do a lot of good.

I need to see a running Bugeye and that ain't gona happen.

Can anyone tell me how long the dimmer switch harness is?

Haha, he told me not to let the smoke out.

Maybe it's because I don't have a bugeye, but could you help further expand my mental real estate by explaining the "magic - smoke - gauge" thing? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif
Not familiar with it.

It is the tool that you use to measure how much smoke there is in your Lucas wiring, and how hard it is trying to get out. I think they make them in the same factory where they made the "where did the electricity go to" distributor that I am trying without success to diagnose.

Ok, who has the link for Baz.

Jack,
The dipper harness is 4'6" long, 3 wires, bullets on one end and ring terminals on the other.

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif You've got it mon ami. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif

That makes sense then, it feeds back to the bunch of wires near the regulator.

Now If I can just figur out what the rest of this is for, hehe.

Ok, think I got the rest figured out. There are two long legs remaining and they go to left and right headlights and turn signals.

Does anyone have any pics of the underside of the bonett on their bugeye so I can see the routing for these leads. The pasanger side is straight forward but the drivers side is a bit of a mistery at this point.

all my wires, Jack, go down the passenger side..And my bonnet is a front tilt .

Jack, if you need more details shots than in that other thread I can try to get to the Tunebug after work today and get a few more.

Ah-HA! The dimmer switch loom connects to the blue set on the left, I kinda think the "un-terminal'd" ones are supposed to go to a flasher unit.

And I agree with Terry about crimp connectors. IMO: Solder EVERYTHING. Much less chance of corrosion causing resistance that way.

I got it Doc. Dimmer need its own loom and goes to terminals near the regulator. the other two long legs are left and right headlights and turn signals. Tis strange there are two seperate runs to the front of the car, however so be it.

You need 6 wires going to the front of the car.
