I've been looking at the Bugeye upper fulcrum. Seems strange it does not have a washer on the nut end?

What say you all?

Maybe it's like that for a castle nut and a cotter pin Jack.

Aye, I have the castle nut and a cotter pin type.

If the Bugeye's front end is anything like a 1500, I didn't have washers there either when I rebuilt mine.

Okies, just thought a check would be prudent.

Jack

Page 32 of that Anglo Parts catalogue you found has a good illustration.

With a castleated nut and cotter pin, the cotter pin should just about bottom out in the slot of the nut when all is tightened up. If it looks that way, then all is OK. If the cotter pin seems to be too far out...sort of like just catching the ends of the slots, then there is need for a washer to bring the nut out to catch the meat of the cotter pin.

Ahhh, now that makes sense, yep.

Wouldn't you could just use a cotterpinjack to get it high enough? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Good thought, I'll order one Friday.

Gents, SORRY but I for one LOVE my own rear end and try to take care of those around me that operate Motor Vehicles (even tho MOST are pieces of junk. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif).

You ARE talking SAFTEY items here!! Do NOT skimp nor do incorrectly!!

Although my Shop Service Manual is in my Office (and I am not) my Service PARTS Manual is in front of me.

PROPER end float HAS to be achieved!!! As in 99.9% of the time the thrust washer(s) Part # 2A4006 are NOT the original thickness, shims:

Washer---adjustment
2A4008 (.12")
2A4007 (.008")
2A4168 (.003")

MUST be used!!

Say what Ed. For the upper fulcrum that attacheds to the lever on the shock??

Bugeye, if you are talking about the wheel bearings, is take em up tight back off to allow the cotter pin to go into the hole.

Ed is referring to the shims under the trunnion that allows you to adjust the endfloat.
