How much slop ie movement is acceptable in throutle shafts?

I can just tell mine are moveing, is that too much?

Take them out and use some calipers to measure the wear. You may be able to get by with just replacing with standard shafts if the bodies are not too badly worn. The shafts tend to wear much faster than the carb bodies.

Try spraying starting fluid or wd40 around the areas in question at idle, if the idle note changes then there is some leakage.

Cheers!
Dave G.

Sorry Dave, The car/engine is not running. We've all been following Jack's saga so he tends to leave out info that us regulars know.

Good advise from Dave though, he has not been here long enough to have come to know and love Agatha.

Trevor has some sound advise.

Wouldn't change th' RPM's much even if it were leakin'!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif

Much, and just what is much Doc. These butterflys and the shafts do not want to come out. Oh the screws come out easy enough but the butterflys seem to be a really tight fit on the shafts.

LOL, think doc meant that at 0 RPM, all that air leaking by ain't going to make a difference! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

As for how much slop is too much, I could feel a slight wobble from side to side on mine, but they still don't leak at the throttle shaft.

Oh, my wobble is slight as well, hmmmm, got to think some about this.

Jack, if it not very wobbly, probably new shafts will do you. Remember that some play is necessary hehehe
