Were the windscrean posts anodized orginaly?? I have only ever seen them painted silver so really have no idea. However that does not seem right.

On page 8 of the orginal sprite and midget is an orginal Bugeye. The pillers look like paint to me? In any case they are not the same as the windsheld suround or the cockpit suround which is anodized.

Jack, I think all mine are natural anodized. They can't be untreated aluminum, or they would quickly corrode.
I believe the windshield frames and cockpit surrounds are bright anodized. Silver paint sounds yucky to me, and seems like somebodys' band-aid.

After awhile the old anodized stuff starts to look like bad "chrome" paint.

I have a new set of pillars still in wrapper . They have that dull aluminium finish not at all like the windscreen frame and cockpit surround. The Originality Guide says that from AN5/501 through AN5/5476 "the windscreen frame pillars were cast from aluminium and were painted the same color as the car." The early windscreen frames themselves were chrome plated steel. The frames after AN5/5476 were manufactured from aluminium and were were clear anodized.

Oh, wonderfull. Clear anodized it is then.

Tell me about this Originality Guide, where do I get one?

No no, I have found a place to get it refinished as per orginial. Will share when I get it sorted out and priced etc. Miss Agatha has to look right.
