Question - pulling diff seal

Ok, big nut 1 1/8 inch, yep have socket.

Question, what is an acceptable way to lock the rear end when trying to remove this nut. Hate to just jam a big screwdriver in there.
 
I use a piece of oak (hardwood flooring).
 
Thanks, will proceed. Yep have impact wrench, big hammer.
