Good question. Even on my 4A, there are two set of holes and I wondered why as well. There is a change from the 4A to the 6 that adds two mounting studs for strength and I have done this mod to my 4A. But I don't know why two set on each side either. So make that two inquiring minds.
Also where/what commercial was it that introduced "inquiring minds want to know?" How 'bout "Ancient Chinese secret?" others?
