Question on oil filter adapter

I have a Bugeye with a later 1275, but have the early felt canister style oil filter set-up. I noticed that Moss has a spin-on filter adapter kit for $130. But they also sell the later oil filter head (the metal part that goes to the block and went with the later OEM spin-on filter setup; part 114-063) for $50. Is there any reason that I can't just get this oil filter head, mate it up with my oil pipe, and spend that extra $80 on beer and women?

BTW, I asked the Moss tech person about this, and he said he was not familiar with this, but thought it would work. He stated that the oil pipe is shown to be different for the later setups, but may be worth a try.

I don't know the answer for sure, but if you need help spending that $80 on beer and women, let me know. ;o}
 
Well, beer and women sounds like a good investment to me but you may want to reserve a bit cause the oil pipes are different and not compatable. Other than that I can't help much--perhaps others can.

Don't the later 1275 engines have the spin on adapter? I bought a used one from a BCF member for $50. It looks like the stock one from above on my bug. No more mess either.

I don't recommend the aftermarket pin on adapter, It need some modification to fir flush and being mounted sideways, you'll spill oil down the side of the block every time. The type used on the later 1275's is a better way to go. A remote filter setup would be the only other better option.
