Question on LHD BN6 steering lever orientation

I have a question on the correct orientation of the steering and idle lever on my LHD BN6.

If I look into the engine compartment both levers point to the inside. A friend of mine owns an LHD BJ7. There both levers point to the outside.

What is the correct orientation of the levers: both to the inside or both to the outside?

Rich, your pictures show the idler arm pointing toward engine (in) just like mine. The blue gloved hand is holding the idler arm.
 
I ordered ParNo STG152 from AH Spares which is classified as Steering Arm LHD. It was mounted pointing to the inside. Did I make a fundamental mistake?

No
The steering arm and idler arm are each connected to the bolts holding them and with the wheels straight ahead they point inward and are connected to the tie rods that are connected to the wheels/front suspension.
For all I know, the BJ7 and later cars may be different.
 
My bad....I read it quickly and thought he was talking about the steering arms mounted to the stub axles. In this picture, the idler arm looks "OUT" to me.

As far as I can tell, mine could only assemble one way given the tapered fittings....unless accidently reversed the idler and steering arms...hmmmm

Rich, as far as I understand your picture, the part of the idle arm which is close to the suspension points to the inside where the part close to the bumper points into the driving direction, isn't it?

Semantics? Draw a line forwatd from the arm's connection to the steering box to the arms connection with the tie rod, it points toward the centerline of the car away from the wheels toward the engine. That means in to me.
 
Much ado about nothing, if the parts connect and the car steers, it's good!
 
Yep, this is what I meant: starting at the steering box the steering arm first points to the engine. After that the part where the tie rod is connected points (nearly) into the driving direction. Same with the idle arm. It starts pointing to the inside and continues to the driving direction.

I agree. It's a bit of semantics as TimK stated above. The arms do point inward first, then point back outward where the tie rod and end rods join.
I think you're fine.
