Question on Bugeye Harley mirrors

I need to add a side mirror to the new Bugeye, and am planning on one of the Harley mirrors such as mentioned in this thread:

Harley part: 91930-92T
https://www.britishcarforum.com/bcf/showthread.php?26047-Jack-s-Interesting-Bugeye-Mirror

I'll only be doing one on the right side (RHD car) and want to be sure I'm ordering the correct one for that side. Are folks using them on the same side as they're marked for in a bike, or swapping them side to side?

Drew, I think I have one in my collection of extra parts. I bought both sides and only used the driver's side. I will go look at the part number and send it back to you.

Thanks, Charlie

Thanks, Charlie. So right mirror for right side of car. That works.

Drew, in case you do not know, the thread of the mirror screws right into the captured nut. At least mine did. I also screwed a nut up the mirror threads so that once I had the mirror where I wanted it, I could then screw the nut down to lock the mirror in place.

So with the mirror in place is the back of the windshield then properly anchored and bolted down. Since the windshield often gets used by folks unfamiliar with BE's as a grab handle, are things properly supported and fastened?

You don't need a Harley mirror. Just about any motorcycle mirror will work. This is an off the rack at a universal mirror can go on either side. Most come with a cone shape washer that fits nicely in the windshield pillar. DSCN7298 (800x600).jpg

Thanks for the clarifications guys.

My Harley mirror came in today, works perfectly. For future reference, it was Harley Davidson part #91930-92T (One-Piece Round Mirrors - Short Stem, Right Side).

I used a small nut to lock it in place. Otherwise, threaded right into the captive nut on the car like it was meant to be there. Came with a nice little tapered washer that fit in the windshield upright.

The mirrors that I have on my Bugeye are for a Jaguar. I got them from Moss. There is a right hand and a left hand mirror. The right hand mirror is concave. So far I have not been able to adjust the right hand mirror so that it does me any good. I usually see the pavement wizzing by, but I think it looks better with two mirrors than one even if the right hand one serves little purpose. If I have a passenger with me I let them try to adjust it for me. Gives them something to do.

I can't say this mirror will be that useful as far as actually being a mirror, but it does show what's behind and meets the legal requirement around here to have an outside mirror. Bonus is no extra holes to drill. Location should not interfere with the side curtains either.

The outside mirror on my MGB is similar -- went in the hole that was drilled for the radio antenna. Works okay as a mirror, mostly just meets the requirement and looks fine.

If you go to the moss motors web site and click on jaguar and then on mirrors it is the
"D" picture. They fit right into the windshield stud perfectly. When I get a picture of my whitewalls up I will also show the mirrors.

The photos before this post show my bugeye without white wall tires in the first picture and in the second picture with white walls. The other two pictures are of the mirrors. Like i said they are for a Jaguar but fit nicely on a Bugeye.
Also my wife did the photos and posted them for me.

Hey looking good!!!! The Whitewalls are definitely different from Minilites and Blackwalls. Thanks.

Looks great, 59diamond! I've got that same mirror on my MGB -- makes sense that it'd fit in that back hole. Nice.
