Question-Head studs

Am I correct, the end studs on the head are a bit longer than the center ones as the end ones hold the valve cover on.

I don't have a valve cover yet therefor the strange question.
 
Boy, it has been a long time since I have done this and the darn shop manuals say nothing of course. Would be nice if they at least covered the basics. But then maybe you are not supose to remeove the head studs. Hehe.
