Question- carb throtle

Right now the carb throtle arm faces toward the outside. As I look at the cable etc it seems it should be on the inside faceing toward the heat sheld.

Now the only way I can see to make that work is to change the throtle plates so they open the other direction. Think the person who put new throtle shafts in got it
backwards?????????


Forgot to say that the top of the throtle plates point toward the engine, is this correct? To make it turn the other way they will point out.

What you all say, the throtle arm is a small brass peice.
 
Now, Jack, I have the newer set-up on my 1275 and when the throttle lever is actuated the top of the butterflies moves away from the engine (ie: towards you looking down the throat). The lever faces the engine. However, judging by the diagrams in the Moss & VB catalogues, your lever faces away from the engine, so when it is raised, the butterflies should turn in towards the engine as you described! I hope that helps, but the older SUs are just too different from what I have for me to be sure. I'm sure someone else knows for sure. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/confused.gif
 
Jack - if you can't get this solved by then, I'll try and take a look at how the one on the Tunebug works. I can't really get to the carb side of the car right now, but I'll be working on things on Sunday and will try and get some pictures.
 
Jack, I have a full set of Bugeye 948 carbs still on their manifold. What do you need me to tell you?
 
Well, I got it hooked up throtle arm away from the engine and throtle plates toward the engine.

Maybe I am just not use to such a short throtle cable sheath.
 
If I understand you correctly, I think it should be pointing away from the heat shield. My factory service manual shows it this way (figure D.7 in the BMC Sprite Mk 1 manual), and my stock 948 bugeye is the same. I can post a scan if it helps (and if I can figure out how to do it...!)
 
Think I am ok, it is just that the cable sheath is a bit short as to what I would really like, another inch would be nice.

Yep, just as I thought, and it is just the opposite of the HS2 setup!!
