Question about BN4 Longbridge vs Abingdon...

Does anyone here know what the definitive difference is between the rear seating area of an early vs later built BN4?

Apparently there is some difference in the rear kick panels and rear sets, as Moss lists different part numbers for those kits.

I have an interior for sale suitable to the later 100/6 & 3000 4 seater listed in the classifieds and someone interested that has one of the early cars.

I would be thankful if someone who has seen both (side by side) could point out the difference.

Hi Randy,

I doubt if too many people have two of the BN4s side by side to compare. If this will help, a couple of quotes from the "Anderson-Moment Restoration Guide"

"On the Longbridge BN4, the quarter panels were designed to accommodate the fixed pivoting top frame. When the BN4 production was revived at Abingdon, a separate top frame was introduced, which allowed considerable simplification of the quarter panels. That design was continued on the BT7s."

"The inner rear quarter panels were covered with vinyl-covered fiberboard panels. On the first series BN4, with its pivoting top frame, these panels were flat with a rectangular face at the front that aligned with the door shut face. The panel's rear curved to match the vinyl-covered fender well, with piping along the edges of the panel. On the second series BN4s and the BT7s, this panel curved back from the door opening to the rear of the tonneau area."

Randy,

I heard that the rear seat pans had studs and some used screws. Mine has screws.

If anyone knows what is correct let me know.

Thanks Tracy. I have seen both types, but it seems as though the recover kits would work no matter the style of fastener used to secure the pan...
