Purge!

That would go a long way to another LBC! 😁

Small rooms are hard - getting the low frequencies to reproduce is a challenge because the waveforms start to cancel out, and at high frequencies you get nodes of reinforcing and destructive interference. My movie room at home just won't let the low frequencies build out - no matter how much power I dump at it. I can hear them VERY clearly outside, but in the room its like they are not there.

Sooo true! I've known a couple guys with businesses running OLD junk hardware and software who benefited from "dumpster diving" rather than upgrade. They didn't become my clients.
Years ago, I interviewed at a company that specialized in building custom CPU's from scratch to emulate ancient, obsolete hardware. They even built in known hardware bugs so all software workarounds would function exactly as they had in the original systems.

If you have dozens of years of development into custom software and tens of millions of dollars in installed hardware, you sometimes find that replacing it with all new systems can cost hundreds of millions of dollars and take many years to implement. If it's all working just fine now, it can be a whole lot easier/cheaper/faster to just replace the core processor and leave all the software and ancillary hardware as-is.

For a typical customer they'd be replacing refrigerator sized electronics bays that are hooked up to some massive system (military/infrastructure/research/etc) with almost entirely empty refrigerator sized electronics bays that had a shoe-box sized processor module inside and all the same plugs on the outside.

Hey - nothing wrong with my new car. When it's in a race, it doesn't win - but it does keep smiling:

Did I know you had a Traveller...? So cool.

On the purging front, well on you Doc. My wife and I are big fans of cleaning out. We joke about hiring out as a team to help folks prune down the stuff. We're pretty ruthless.

As I get older, I think a lot about a quote from the great Peter Egan. He was helping the widow of an old friend clean out the garage after his friend passed, and he talks about "the $#!+ your kids throw out when you're dead." That line sticks with me.
