Pulling a datsun trans

I may go to a self serve wrecking yard tomorrow to see if a 210 still has the trans in it. Problem is that its a yard where you pull the parts, so you have to take your own tools. And there are no loaner tools if you forget one.
So can anyone tell me exactly what tools I will need so I don't forget something?

12 and 17 mm wrenches/sockets are your friends! but also take 13mm stuff since I have found these occasionally (13 is not factory).

Surprisingly enough, you don't need very many tools to pop one out. If you bring a set of wrenches (10mm-18mm), a large flat blade screwdriver (or pry bar) and a set of 3/8" drive sockets (10mm-18mm) with a ratchet you can get the tranny out.

I usually bring some pliers, wire cutters and other misc. tools, just in case. I can ususally get the tranny out in half an hour.....it's that simple. Once the driveshaft is out, shifter arm removed, slave cylinder removed and the bellhousing bolts removed it'll pop right out with a quick pry from the screwdriver. Just make sure you're ready for it because it'll literlly pop out onto the ground on the first try.

Good luck!

Check out the 65 AH in the yard at the P&P in Chico if you are going there. It might have something you need.

Opps! don't forget the oil drain first Lets see.. 1/2 socket drive.. Right

The yards around here drain the fluids before the cars reach the yard, but definitely worth checking *before* you pull the driveshaft out.

I usually use a 12" Crescent wrench to drain the oil (often with a 3' cheater pipe!!)

I didn't know there was a AH in the local yard, I'll go by there today.

Just went out there. Looks like they tried selling it, then put it out in the yard when it didn't sell. It has a Mazda rotary conversion with an auto trans. straight car, no rust I could find. Too bad it ended up in the yard.

So, big deal. In the yard out of the yard. If priced right jump on it.

What is the rear axle? Mazda or Mowog?

I did not look, but I assume the original. I glanced and saw what looked like the original drums on it.
And once the car is in the yard, they won't sell it. Its destined for the crusher.

There's a place here like that.

Its a mazda rotary conversion on a 65 sprite. wish I would have seen it prior to it going in the yard. And they won't sell it, some bullsh*t with pick-n-pull

I bet they will. Money talks.
