While waiting for Steve to come up with more questions, I pulled the generator out of the Bugeye, to try to fix my tach drive. The adapter worked itself loose enough times, that the drive key wore out the inside of the armature shaft. So here's what I'm trying for the fix.
I got this product called Plastex. It is plastic in powdered form. With a solvent added, it fills any void with a hard solid plastic. After it cures (tomorrow) I'll dremel it out to fit the key.
It might be too soft, but then again I might just save the armature. Could be the fumes, but I really love working with this stuff.

I occassionally use "JB Weld" for similar stuff....we fixed a cracked trans in a mini with it, and held back the oil for a couple of years. I don't recall the fumes making me goofy either (but then, how would I notice from my normal persona?).
