Protecting our kids?

I think that the original intent of the post was parents whoprotect their kids from ANYTHING that MIGHT possibly be harmful - notparents who try & let them learn life lessons (like you touch a hot stove,-& it hurts). We have a nine year old Granddaughter, who doesn't understand thatnot everyone is a nice person,& will walk up to anyone. We're walking the "fine line" of "don't mistrust everyone - be be awarethat there are bad people out there",& "don't pick up everything on the ground-but some things will make you sick/ill,if you do". - Doug

Here's the way I see it. Most articles like this are written by people who live in their own little group of people. They think that just because their little group does it, everyone else is or should be doing it also. I see that thought process used more frequently by people in large cities such as New York, L.A. etc. They can't seem to fathom that the old way MIGHT be better. The new way must be better because it's new. However, since most people don't live in big cities we have "normal" lives. I take most of what comes out of magazines, newspapers, and TV news with a grain of salt. $0.02
