Protecting new wiring harness under car section-Use clear shrink tubing?

Finally assembling our 64 BJ8 phase II. Have this beautiful new wiring harness with the colorful braiding sheath. Anyone sleeve the section under the car with clear see thru shrink tubing to keep it looking new? Also would keep it from getting wet (not that the car will intentionally ever be driven in the wet.) Also could sleeve sections inside the engine compartment that could collect dirt and grime. Looking at the new harness there might be areas where getting the shrink to the areas in question might be a problem, but the part under neat the car looks doable. If size the shrink it right and do not shrink it very tight it could be easily removed.

Anyone ever do this?

Why not use the zipper type tubing then you simplify the installation.-???

Keoke, you have, again, provided me with something I had never thought of existed. I was unaware of Zippertubing Inc. and its products of heat shrinkable zipper tubing. In my follow-up research, I also found that these products can come with built-in EMI shielding.

I would use a spraycan with protection for fabric (like for softtops)
RaggTopp sells them in Europe, it keeps the fabric water repellant

I would not use tubing because of trapping moisture and rubbing risk
 
To avoid any problems with scuffing of the wiring under the chassis, I was advised to run the cables thru the inside of the car, this I have done and will be hidden under the carpet out of the way and damage free. Saltiga
