Proper location for rocker shaft 'Screw-Locating'

The rocker shaft design incorporates a single set-screw to prevent the shaft from moving fore & aft; the parts manual shows it threaded into the rocker pedestal at one end of the shaft. The rocker shaft assembly I was going to install has it (and the appropriately threaded pedestal) located second from the end. I've got a couple of other engines; the most accessible has it in the end location.
I don't see how the location makes a difference, but would appreciate others' thoughts on this.

Just checked another engine, and it has the locating screw located second pedestal in from the from the front of the engine. Thoughts still appreciated. Doug
 
What you need to check is where the oil feed is on the head (under pedestal 1 or 2). Some heads have the oil feed at cylinder #1, some are #2.

(These pedestals are damaged- shown only to demonstrate location of oil feed.)

Oil feed on these heads (1275) is at position #1

Thanks Gerard - makes sense. The head is off getting the valve guides sleeved, hardened valve inserts, etc., so will be a couple of weeks before I can compare. DOug
