I don't believe it!!!! You just tossed a melon-ball into the air and shot it!!!!

Seriously, though, very nice pix!!!

I to notice the 2 stars at 8 and 12. Anybody know what they are. They just stood out that night

Nice photos...

So what was a shutterbug like me doing that night? Why photographing poets inside... No really... I was so focused photographing the poetry performances I basically forgot about the eclipse

And we had great weather for it too, until next time...

The "star" at 8 o clock is actually the planet saturn. Not sure what the star's name on top is though.

I used a Kodak Easyshare Z760 for the first 2 pics, on Shutter priority mode so I could play with shutter speed and find out what worked best. 12-14 seconds seemed to give best results with minimal star tracking. I think it has only a 3x zoom. Mounted to a lillte 6 inch tall tripod sitting on top of the car.

The last one was with my Minolta DiMage Z1 at 10x optical zoom. I never could get a non-shaky picture from it. Takes a good effort to press the shutter release.

I took pictures a few years ago of the lunar eclipe with my Pentax 35mm. Leave the shutter open for 2 hours and uncovered the lens with a black hat every 15 minutes for a few seconds, then cover it back. Was pretty neat. All phases of the eclipse on one picture.
