I can't say all, but most lead based pigments have been discontinued. If an old formulation used the lead pigment it would need to re-formulated. I think they just didn't reformulate some of the colors. I found this this article interesting and is why I went with the Miata color after I couldn't get GN29 / Dupont 8194 mixed.
 
I used Land rover 1994 BRG (metallic) By Dupont I think, green primer, single stage looks great.
 
Thanks for the info Chris. As lead can't be in auto paints (at least here in Cali) I can see why reformulating is such an issue, and a costly one at that. About a year ago I was at a local paint store and out of curiosity asked them how much a gallon of Porsche Guards Red would cost and the answer was $600.00 for a gallon, plus hardener. It was single stage as they knew I'm going to spray it myself so wanted to keep it simple(er). I picked myself up off the floor and the guy explained enviromental costs, no lead etc. and reds just cost more. I've since decided I will go with one of the original BE colors and my better half REALLY likes the Cherry red so may go with that.
