...&, doesn't that mean Midget Mark I's are actually Sprite Mark II's? That's what I always thought.

GAN2L 23980 is my VIN - where'd the "7" after HAN come from?

Tony, that's correct. Sprite MkII's are Midget MkI's.
The Bugeye numbers began with AN5. "A" denoted "A" series engine, and "N" was the factory code for an open two seater. With the advent of the Midget MkI, the Sprites changed to HAN numbers, HAN6. H was the code for Healeys, and it was the sixth series of the Healey cars. Being the first run for the Midgets, they started with GAN1.
HAN6, GAN1, HAN7, GAN2, etc.

Ah, the things we learn over here!

Just goes to show we are never to old to learn Tony.

Donn, the last 10CC engine I built had +.040 flat tops in it, with a multitude of other goodies. It dynoed at 72 flywheel HP with a stock head. With some head work and other tweaking it's now over 90. I've put close to 35,000 miles on it with nary a hiccup. It <u>still</u> pulls to over 7200rpm.
Good, solid engines, they are.
Jeff

My plan is just to pull the engine/trans & replace the clutch & the pull starter switch (which sometimes doesn't work)...it runs great & is still strong with no smoke so I'm not gonna open it this time..I wanna get it looking good for Missouri.

I've still got alot to learn about the litle Midgets - I own several but have never "gotten into" them.....and the big show in Missouri will be one of the few I attend as shows aren't really my thing.

Tony, the pull start switch is an easy fix. Just open it up, clean the contacts and reassemble it. I think Jack repaired his like that.
The Midgets, particularly the earlier ones, are like working on Model A's compared to a B.
Jeff

Jeff - I just grabbeda new one off the shelf...but I'll hang onto the old one!

Send the old one down Tony, I'll fix it up and keep it as a spare. But then as I fix em maybe I don't even need a spare.

They are really tough switches, the points just get a bit burnt after many many years and need cleaned up.

Jeff, you don't know how happy that information makes me. I was wondering what I would do for some extra power.

The car had never been fast. Actually quite slow. I suppose that would have been because my brother insisted on using the original Bugeye HS1 carbs. (1 1/16") I now have a set of HS4s and a shortened MGB manifold

Donn, when I built this one, I installed a set of brand new HS2's. So far they seem to be sufficient. My race 948 <u>has</u> to run HS2's, and it's putting out close to 95 HP at the flywheel.
I've got a trick set of HS4's on a shortened B manifold for the 1275.
Jeff

Main problem with mine is she wants to "float" around above about 60mph...I'm pretty sure its in the shocks & will probably do something to them when its in the air.

Darn, might as well's are beginning!!

Tony, just pull a set of cores from your stash, send them to Peter now, and be done with it. I put new shocks and springs under my '63, and it's rock solid all the way up to top end, or at least it was when I was still driving it.
Jeff

Tony, no excuise. Peter is always glad to get cores. Make a deal, hehe, so many cores for a new rebuild set.

There I said it. The old barter system.

Yeah, its something I have to address when I put her in the air in January.
