About out of steam. Only head, rockers, and pressure plate to go now. All else complete.

Yep, crank and cam sprockets alligned properly and dizzy drive shaft as well.

Man that was a hard three hours for some reason. Guess I am getting older every day.

Note to self, get new tap locks for each rebuild.

Jack, you are making forward steps my friend.

& next is pulling the engine/trans in my '63 Midget to replace the clutch!!

Hey, he's not TU yet!! hehehehe

Think I should load it on the trailer & head towards FL with it?

I mean, he's got this thing down pat! & my '63 is a 948 also....

Ya know what they say...PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT!!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/jester.gif /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbsup.gif

Engine assembled, only tranny to bolt up. Pump primed, oil filter primed.

Bring it on Tony, I got a system.

Ha, soon as I get this thing sorted out over the next week it is paint time. Oh yea I have my cockpit suround out being polished and anodized, maybe the week after next I should think.

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:]Uh, Tony, the '63's were small crank 1098 cars. '62 was the last year for the 948's in Spridgets.

/bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/bow.gif /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/blush.gif Guess I really need to load it up & take it to somebody who knows the little cars....hehehe...& I know better!

But, you caused me to go out & look on the front seat to see what clutch kit I ordered for it!! WHEW!! #190-970 for a 1098.

948, 1098, 1275 all the same to me. Where's that hammer.

/bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/lol.gif My friends all refer to that as the "Harley Tool"!!

Tony, the last of the 948 engines was built in October of '62, so it may well be referred to as a '63. The 1098 came inat GAN2 16184, along with the disc brakes. 948 cars all had front drums.
But, we all know that dating one of these by model year is a crapshoot.
My '63 is a 1098, the '62 is a 948 car.
Jeff

VIN is GAN2L 23980...& its a 1098 (10CC-D<span style='font-size: 8pt'>A</span>-H-29683....interesting engine number)...engine has a metal "AUSTIN" tag riveted to valve cover along with a metal patent tag....hmmmm

As it should Tony.

according to here
Sprite Mk
1 (948cc)AN5 501 to AN5 50116 - 9C-U-H101 to 9C-U-H49201
2 (948cc)HAN6 101 to HAN6 24731 - 9CG-DA-H101 to 9CG-DA-H36711
2 (1098cc)HAN7 24732 to HAN7 38828 - 10CG-DA-H +number
3 (1098cc)HAN8 38829 to HAN8 64734 - 10CC-DA-H
4 (1275cc)HAN9 64735 to HAN9 85286 - 12CC-DA-H

Looks like it's just a little later motor. That's only good.

Tony, that's the "Big Crank" engine,(2" mains) from a '66.
The big crank 1098's are the best of the lot, and were only around for '65~'66, before being replaced by the 1275.
It's an earlier valve cover on it though, as the plates were glued on after # 25233, March of '65.
The car was built in the late summer or early autumn of '63.
Jeff

Interesting, thanks...I've got all the history on it..it was bought new at Lakeland Motors in Knoxville, TN & originally registered as a '64....looks like it got some serious engine work at the same place a year or so later....probably done under warranty so they just 'long blocked' it but its hard to read the work ticket after all these years.

You need some forensic writing analysis there Tony.
I love the stuff they do on the various CSI shows, if it was written it can be retrieved.
