I finally got a coat of paint on the track car this weekend. I shot the door panels, fenders and boot lid Saturday and the tub and bonnet Sunday. The picture is a little over exposed but it looks presentable. Now for the reassembly. (Don't mind the over spray on the dry rotted tires /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/jester.gif)
A word of caution to the Rustoluem paint job folks:
I used Nason Selectprime primer and Dupont Centari acrylic enamel (single stage). The fenders on the car were pretty beat up so I used a couple spares I had. I had used some Rustoleum rusty metal primer as well as regualr paint in a few spots prior to the fenders where being stored. When I did the body work for this job I did not take them down to bare metal since this is just a track car. The primer scratch filler on different occasions lifted the Rustoleum. I had to sand the affected areas down to base and respray. If you plan on going the Rustoleum route as a temp fix before doing a regular paint job be prepared to take everything down to factory paint / primer / bare metal. You may find a paint system that is compatable but the one I used is generally pretty forgiving.
