Progress Update on my 59 BE!

Hi everyone: Just finished posting a 1275 for sale in classifieds and wanted to leave a few words about where I am (or not) with my 59 BE restoration.
I think I mentioned before I got this car out of Ohio and expected rust issues but it's old poorly repaired collision damage that has caused me the most grief and challenges.
The tub has been completely stripped of parts. I have removed the right side floor, inner sill, rocker panel, interior and exterior foot well, part of the rear bulkhead, jacking points and cross brace, lower part of the A pillar (eventually will replace completely with new) and other pieces. The car was hit on the front right side way back in the early 60's and the repairs were just remarkably awful! Don't know if was just Ohio body shops at the time or if that kind of crummy repair work was acceptable then. I will have to replace the left side floor, sill, rocker and inner footwell also (rust worm).
I have stripped/sandblasted all the running gear I can and will powder coat/paint some of that shortly. The bonnett will be dipped and stripped soon and some repairs made (using lead (just like the girls did!) then the tub,
I've spent WAY more than I ever anticipated, and have caught grief for it, but at this point I will not be denied! The little Bugeye will live again with a heated up 1275, 5sp, front discs, minilite repo wheels, etc. and a little more foot room than some. I've done every bit of the work (except for engine machine work and balancing) so far. I will get assistance with welding and have a go at that myself. The good news is that by opening up the car so much I can do some reinforcing etc. that will never be seen so will be a better overall car. I can also tend to rust issues that even a chemical dip would not resolve.
I will post some pics soon and stop yapping now as this post is too long! It really helps reading everyone else's posts for inspiration and great entertainment value, thanks everyone!

Keep up the good work, and get on with those pictures. We like picture around here. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Sounds like you've really got quite the project going. Lots of Bugeye folks around here, as I'm sure you've seen.
