I just wanted to show off the pics of the shell we just stripped out... We got it into the garage and finished stripping the left over dash, carpet and other misc. parts the previous owner had left behind....we will start working on prep and clean and then we have to decide about who paints it...us or pay to paint.
I have been following the homemade paint job threads closely and I have to say....we are nearly convinced that we can do this ourselves.

Good start. Where's the rust?

On this body...none! There is a small spot on the rear driver's quarter. We bought this shell because the guy had already stripped it, media blasted the engine bay and trunk and sprayed it. He did apply the pearl coat and it has some drips that will need to be addressed. We are hoping to prep it over the next couple of weeks and primer it. Then we have to decide whether to spray it ourselves or pay someone to do it.
(Unfortunately I just spent my husband's "paint money" on my new toy...so it may be a little longer on getting it done now.)

It looks like a great start...take your time and good luck with that. Of course, keep us posted with lots of pics! Thanks for sharing!

Looks real good...but, Terri, pull the wiring harness - it isn't hard to do & you'll get a nicer paint job not having to worry about it.

I love pearl paint jobs, they are just so gorgeous! Now, I know next to nothing about how they are done, but I have always heard they are up there on the difficulty rating. Based on the very little bit I know, I'd have someone who shoots pearls on a regular basis do the paint. The other thing that you have to look forward to is rock chips.

Not only would I remove the wiring harness, but the wiper and turn signal stalks if they're still on the steering column. I didn't and when my painter masked the steering wheel he broke both of them. He compensated me by painting my rostyle wheels.
