Progress on My Car: Paint

I went over to the paint and body guy's today, and got to see the car as the last bits of Pacific Green paint is being sprayed. I am very happy with the Pacific Green, and everyone is right, it photographs much bluer than it looks live.

When I left, the bonnet, splash apron, and windshield posts are all that is left with some minor touchup. The OEW coves have been partially sprayed for color test and will be finished in the morning. The engine will go in, and the body panels put back on, sand and buff then home Thursday or Friday.

I wanted a good 5ft car, and I certainly am getting that. This car is a far cry from the cheap respray I originally was going to put on it. That being said, no one is going to mistake it for a Tanner restoration either!

As soon as I get it back, I have start figuring out the new wiring harness...

Here are the pics. Click on the thumbnail to see a larger version.

Hi Patton,
This is the fun part after all the hard preparation. The panels look great, whatever color it actually is.

Hi Patton,

Your car is really looking great. I took one of your photos and adjusted the color to be closer to Pacific Green. How does this compare to the real color?

Hi Patton,

Great photos! Thanks for sharing. This is an exciting and satisfying time in a restoration. And you're correct, at some point you become committed to the project where quality, and sometimes cost, is no object.

Have you decided on an interior color? GONZO

Thanks, I am so relived that it's coming together. Now the race is on to get it on the road before baby #2 gets here in July (thus taking away large amounts of hard to find free time).

Oh cost was very much an object /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif . My paint guy was wishing I would have dropped a couple more grand in the job, and we took it all of the way down and also used base/clear on the engine bay, inner fenders, and interior. The color match between the base/clear and the enamal was amazing!!!

The PO had put a new black vinal seats plus a panel kit in the car, so I am staying with them for now. I am putting new carpet in, and will eventually I will replace the seats with leather, but will stay with the black.

Patton,

Looks great. The X up front of the radiator gets hand painted black. This is easier to do all apert like the photos show. Good luck with the assembly.
