If I remember right, my Heritage certificate said that the car was equipped with clear up front, red in the back. I think that was the US spec at the time. Tunebug still has that setup, and I've no reason to suspect that they have ever been changed. I'll have to check the certificate when I get home.
 
I have a dumb question (yes, another one). Does a bugeye have reverse lights? I just finished wiring up the new lights on the rear of mine sans the license plate plinth and don't remember seeing any provisions.

Just thought about it when reading this thread.

My BE has red rear and clear front markers lens'.
 
No reverse lights on a Bugeye. Didn't come to Spridgets until much later. 1968 maybe? (Lots of safety stuff came then).

The hinges came with the bonnet. They were reinforced since they were flimsy.

The lenses are not the original color, but I installed them since everyone is so used to seeing amber for a directional/turn signal. Most of the time I hand signal, like people really know what that means. I wonder if they still teach that when you go for a license (hehehe).

Yes no reverse lights, they didn't come into play until the mid 60's.

I am thinking of lowereing the front another 1/2" thought.

Reading Horler this evening, reverse lights came in late 1967.

According to my Heritage Certificate, the Tunebug came with "Red and white flashers" as factory fitted equipment (along with heater, windscreen washer, rev counter, tonneau cover, and whitewall tyres)
