My brother got on my butt about the progress so I endured the heat today.

Maniflow, tilted 20 g. I have a question regarding the oil pressure - positive crank. The new carbs do not have provision for them, is there some other way to hook the crank vent up?

Patrick

Sorry, angle of pic, you can see in the first one that they are pretty level with the head.

Patrick

Vent from valve cover goes on the air cleaner, is that the one, or?

Supose that prop is large enough to move it?

Anywho, I like it.

Thanks Jack,

I have a vent on the timing chain, and was wondering should it be filtered and the valve cover changed for an earlir one. Or what is recommneded.

Patrick

Nuts, I missed the carbs in the first picture!
Are you running the 1275 timing cover, with the oil separator built into the vent?
You can always tee the hose from there to the hose from the valve cover, and run it to a vented catch can.
Remember, the "A" Series likes lots of ventilation.
Jeff

So, I need to install a vent catch can with the hose from the valve cover and timing cover going into it then?

Did you notice the carbs? Look closely my friend.

Patrick

Patrick, the catch can route would probably be the easiest alternative. There are some nice looking aluminum catch cans available from the various speed merchants.
HS4's?
Jeff

Jeff,

Please let me know how to connect, I have seen them cheap from Summit. Do both the crank cover and valve cover go to it, in a tee?

Patrick

Patrick, yes, just tee the two hoses together, and run the hose from the third leg of the tee to the catch can.
Are the carbs HS4's?
Jeff

Thanks Jeff.

I have a nice spot to mount it. See the pevious post for attachment, HS2's fully modified.

Patrick

Gotcha, Patrick. It was hard to tell from the original pic if they were HS4's, or modified HS2's. I've got a couple of sets of each, both highly modified, but for race use only.
Jeff

Thanks, Jeff for all of your help.

Jeff:

(sigh) What else do I need to now to be solo race legal (she has a 4 pt bar, stock seats, probably not enough height from my head about 3". and no extinguisher).

Please let me know, what I am missing, it seems that we are almost half way there, Thanks again Patrick

Patrick, I don't know anything about the Solo rules at all. What are you required to run for belts? The best bet would probably to pull up a copy of the rules from the SCCA site, and go from there.
Sorry I can't be of more assistance, but the road racing rules are a whole different ball game from Solo.
Matt Herd, from the forum, Solos a 1500 Midget. See if you can give him a bump for some advice.
Jeff

Thanks Jeff,

It just seems that I am half way there. hehhehe
