Progress and a question.

Rear end out. Wow, what a pain. Now if I can just get the bolts loose for the springs. Not only are they grunged, but rusted, and tight. Now were is that BFH.

Question for you smart guys, have the jack stands on the spring pads, now what, a two by four side to side?

I am trying to interpet your questions. I believe that is that you can't access the spring bolt with the jack stands on the spring boxes (at the rear of the car).

I have always moved them to the front of the spring box, the car will be stable and been able to get at the four bolts (U bolt nut and two retaining bolts).

Is that the question?

That was the question Pat, thanks. Last time I did this I never removed the springs, but these are nasty and need to come out and apart.
 
Oh and further, my last up date for the day, I quit, till tomorrow.

Finaly finaly got the heater box off, those darn screws are going to be bolts when the new one goes back. Oh yea and an old old heater box bottom gascut was in side the heater box. Let me tell ya what it looks like. Black, inside diam same as the hole in the bottom of the box and about 1/2 inch wide, it is just thick enough to take up the room available, like 3/16 maybe.

Other wise been cleaning the garage floor, etc.
 
Glad to hear, spray the top of the spring (towards the back) and the u bolt on the bottom with WD 40 and let them sit.

Sound like you have been making some good progress.
 
Oh forgot, both rear shocks are good, no leaks and work as intended.
