Problem with alarm

Hey, does anybody know what to do with the factory installed alarm system that comes with the 1990 XJ6 Sedan? Here is my problem? I disconnected the battery to replace the fuel filter and water pump. I place the positive wire back on the battery and now the alarm beeps with the lights when I turn off the ignition. How the heck do I correct the problem or do I take it back to Jaguar Dealer.

XJ6Lenny:
You unhooked the positive cable instead of the ground to kill the battery? Always unhook the negative, you might have to take it in and reset. On all computer controlled cars unhook the negative cable not the positive. Earlier cars were positve ground, but you still have open circuit with the red cable off and if the cable touches anything it polarizes the system.

Lenny, I don't know if you ever got your alarm fixed... But this months tip on Coventry West (a site for buying Jaguar parts) is "Resetting Jaguar Alarm systems" by year and how to.
I don't know their expertise personally, but have purchased parts through them... and they "sound knowledgable".
