Priming the Oil Pump

Explain, please. What to stick down into the hole to engage the dumaflatche, which way to spin the thing (reverse, I assume), with what (drill?), how long, what to look for (valve cover off?), etc, etc, etc....

Put some assembly lube on all the internal spinny bits of the pump and assemble it. I don't think you really NEED to prime it. It'll pick up oil and begin pressurising the galley kinda quick. If you're doing this to "test" the thing, it goes counter-clockwize, I ~think~... been too long so more recent/frequent rebuilders need to pipe up.

Yes, anti-clockwise. Same direction that the distributor turns.

Bill,

I once had a screwdriver with the handle removed (I just split one of the wood handled Mac straight slots from years ago) and used that as a driver with a reversible drill.

Get one of these and go real fast.

I just ground a flat onto a long steel rod. Use your drill to spin the oil pump. It goes counter clockwise (drill in reverse setting) And hold on, when the pressure starts to build up, it will create a fair amount of torque.
