Prestige Stayfast Top situation.

I ordered a new Stayfast top from Prestige in England at a cost of 422.95 plus $30.00 shipping. It took about three weeks to arrive. The fit was perfect, the look is very nice but, the left little window was not properly stitched at the bottom and it has a 2 inch gap where no stitching went through the plastic. After contacting them and sending a photo of the flaw as they requested, they agreed to send me a new top. The kicker is, they want me to send the faulty top back to them at a cost of $49.20 to me. I am disputing this issue with them and will keep you guys posted on the results. At the present time, I would advise using caution buying a product from them. Shipping a product back to England can not be sent COD! As I have stated, I'll keep you up on the progress. PJ

Update; Prestige agreed to pay return shipping. Only problem is, it will take about two weeks for the return and another two weeks or more to get a new one back. I guess it's still worth the $230.00 difference than the Moss price for their Sun-Fast top, which is the same material. We'll see. PJ

I'm also guessing, but certainly not sure about it, that Moss probably gets their Stayfast tops from the same people. I'm pretty sure that's where Moss gets the Cabriolet top from.

How many of you guys remember this..years and years ago JC Whitney used to sell as their inexpensive, budget,"cheap" top,a nice canvas one. I bought one once for my MGA, didn't like the look and sent it back because the vinyl ones were the "cool" ones.

....

See, I like hanging out with ya'll cause I feel like a young whipper snapper compared to the folks I normally hang out with /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/jester.gif

Whipper? I seem to remember having one of those or was that slippers? At my age so many things are just memories.

Remember when the back three or four pages of their catalog was full of model "A" Ford parts? Not much good stuff in it today.

Oh well, you know what they say, "Keep your old suits, sooner than later they'll come back in style"! Our MGs are! I don't know about those "Wings" shoes and pegged pants though.

Just received word from Prestige that a new top will be shipped out this week. They have been very nice about this situation and also, will refund the shipping fee I had to pay to send the damaged top back. Just how they reacted to this whole situation would make me use their product again. Nice people, very nice people. PJ

I guess I was wrong about Moss using them for some of their tops... I was looking at something the other day, and Moss claims the Stayfast and Cabriolet Tops are Robbins... Though, I can't seem to locate a Stayfast or Cabriolet top on the Robbins website. Then again, that wouldn't be the first time a manufacturer didn't list their "complete" catalog on the web.

Rob, they might be listed as Sun-Fast rather than StayFast.

I can only find vinyl tops for MGBs on the Robbins site... *shrug*
