pre adjusted voltage regulator

Just wondering if it is worth the extra $35 to get the pre cleaned and adjusted voltage regulator from Moss. I don't doubt that I can figure out how to do this but I lack the tools (and maybe the nerve). It seems that the adjustments are a little tricky but necessary. Going into my MKII Sprite with a 948.

Moss part #542-101

They used to come adjusted correctly from the factory. Without the correct tools I would not attempt adjustment. My BE came with a bad generator and a regulator that DPO had been trying to adjust. I tryed to get it back to where it should have been and it cost me another generator!

Kurt.

I bought a pre-adjusted regulator last year. It works. I had replaced the regulator many years ago not even knowing that I was supposed to adjust it. It didn't work, but fortunately I never went very far. I've always had an amp meter so I could see the difference.

I'd go for it again, but I'm not good with electronics.

The regulator box has always been like magic to me. While I do all my own work on my British cars I would consider an extra $35 for a pre-cleaned and adjusted regulator to be money well spent. If I hadn't switched to an alternator after my last generator problem I certainly would spend the $35.

Thanks for the input. Most stuff I can handle and I have a good mechanic, but there are things about these cars that are definitely out of the ordinary. I will spend the extra$$.
