POWER WINDOW PROBLEM ON A 2002 XK8

Hello;
I am having a problem with the power window on a 2002 XK8. The glass is designed to lower about 1/2 inch when the door is opened. This is so the glass clears the upper weatherstrip. It is suppose to go back up when the door is closed. The glass on the right side will go down just fine, but prematurely will go back up when the handle is released. Closing the door becomes a challenge with the glass in the up position. Any help??

Not sure on the Jag, but on old Lincolns.....there was a switch in the door handle mechanism that tripped a relay to drop a rear window a preset amount.
When the interior lights came on, it latched.
When you closed the door and the interior lights went off, it unlatched the relay and the window went up (as long as you weren't holding a door handle open).

See if your interior lights work off that door.

...Have you tried re programing the windows?

Turn ignition to I or II press the down switch lower and hold for 5 sec while down, do the same for up, on each door.

...Yup, usualy if you have to do it if you have lost electric power, dead battery or ? It just happened to me BTW.

Interesting procedure.
Just power up, hold the button "down" and when the window hits bottom, keep holding until you hear a "clcik".
Then, run it all the way up, hold the button until you hear a "click".
If that doesn't work the computer is fried.

An older or below par battery often causes this type of problem
