We have power! After six days, the light switches are now responsive! And we have heat. And we can stop feeding the generator. We had crews from Ohio and Delmarva working in front of our houses. We tried to get a motel room but the visiting crews had taken them all.
(Below)We have an old kerosene heater in the lake house that hasn't been used in years. So I brought it over and fired it up in the driveway for few hours (it made smoke and a foul smell for a while, but then it was fine). We didn't want to put it in the house, but figured it was OK to use in the garage. So we've been hanging out in our "heated" garage with flashlights and the Kero heater. Here's Lin being productive and doing some homework while I read car magazines. :-D
This is the "mouse trap" across street. It sat like this for 6 days with only a few orange cones to warn folks. A tractor trailer couldn't make it under and he had to back up do a SLOOOOOW K-turn....poor guy.
(Below) Going into "mousetrap" in van. Our house (the cheese) is just down the road.
Neighbours house near our lake house. Minor damage but the same tree blocked the way in to our house (and several neighbours were blocked in for about a day).
Lin cleaning Miata
Snow blower and generator. The generator over to went to the in-laws the second day (they are in their 80s and still have no power as I write this).
This guy crawled under the tree the first day (getting out a lot to look if he'd made it). He cleared it by 6 inches. The next day he drove under it at about 40 mph.
