The zen buddist was walking with his grandson when they came to a busy intersection. As they waited, the grandson noticed that all the cars going by were very angry, beeping at the cars in front of them to get out of the way, etc. And he also noticed that none of the cars were aware they were standing there, needing to get to the other side. After 30 minutes waiting patiently, the boy looked up and asked his grandpa why the cars were so upset and why none of them slowed down to let them pass.
The zen buddist simply nodded and pointed to the sign on the pole in front of them:
"Cross Traffic Does Not Stop"
