Found a '73 MGB in today's paper. Wire wheels, dual carbs. $400. Guy took it as a trade from a woman, was parked in a barn. Has clear IL title, ran 3 years ago when he got it (carbs need work), needs slave cylinder, sanded down, floor panels out, seats in, not in 'bad' shape, top frame intact, not sure about top, didn't know if it had overdrive. Guy has it stored in a barge under the Poplar Street bridge downtown STL, where his shop is. Dahubby is going to go look at it this afternoon.

I'm thinking I can part it out after I take what we want off it. Doubt it's restorable, but hey, doesn't hurt to look! If it has an overdrive, we'll buy it for sure.
 
Dahubby looked at the orphan. And yes, it is inside a barge. Said it was "rough." Told the guy he wouldn't give him $400 for it, that he'd call him Sunday after the ad in the paper was over.

Body wasn't 'too' bad, already sanded down. No floor panels, interior, no overdrive tranny, wire wheels are junk...would have to be sandblasted and painted (hey no problem), top was trash but frame was intact. He made the guy start her so they connected a battery. She turned over (she, listen to me, it's already a person) right away, but didn't start. BUT, the engine isn't seized up at least.

I'm thinking come Sunday - we may have a little Orphan Annie in our family. Dahubby is already talking that he has no place to keep her! I'm going to call the guy Sunday and offer him $200 to get it out of his way. I can sell off the dual carbs and part her out if nothing else.

In fact, I may go over and look for myself. His idea of 'rough' and my idea of 'rough' are different. Rough is me after a long night out partying the next morning with no makeup and she can't be THAT bad!!!

I am look at two 66 MGB GTs this weekend. Only comment is that one runs. I hope my wife is as understanding as you are.
 
One runs, one is the donor. That's completely logical and understandable.
 
Well yah. Could be worse. Could be two big Harleys, could be ***GASP*** two 'rumpfs. Just two little MGs. They don't take up much room. Make sure you let her know it's FOR her (whether or not it is) ~wink~ That you're going to fix her up a great little car. Then hope she forgets.

I'd be THRILLED if dahubby would come home with 2 LBCs!
 
My new problem is my 19 year lod son heard about the two cars and wants to help fix both of them so he can have one. Looks like the cows get sold so we can have the barn for a shop.
 
And that's a good thing, because the more I hear (between dahubby and dason) I'm thinking Annie (the orphan inside the barge) may be coming to live with us. Seems we're making an offer Sunday for sure. I was going to offer the guy $200 to get it out of his shop and his way, but dahubby is a step ahead of me. SO...being the wise woman I am...I am going to let him handle this, him buy it, and then it will be HIS car, right? His project.

Not yet. Couldn't reach the guy today. I think the # I have is for his shop.

And I can't think much today at all. Wedding reception last night. We might have overdid things. Sort of went downhill when my dot-in-law and I started drinking champagne out of the bottles on the tables. Seems someone mentioned something about us dancing with the bottles. Seems 7 extra people crashed here last night. Looked like a warzone, dead bodies everywhere all day. Everyone finally staggered out about 10 minutes ago.

I'm going to back to the floor and my pillow.
