Possible help in looking at a Bugeye in Texas

Hello Austin Healey Forum,

I am seriously looking at a 1959 Bugeye in Dallas, Texas; it looks to be a very nice restore/refurbish. The owner is a member of the North Texas Austin Healey Club; anyone on the Forum a member of the Club, and if so, would you be so kind to offer assistance in reporting on the car?

I am planning on flying down to Dallas to look at the car, but if there are local eyes that could give a it look or known report, and help me determine if the trip is worthy; it could save me some money.

The car is located approximately 11 miles from DFW, as the bird flies (I am sure it is much further by auto). It is off the intersection of Royal Ln. and Midway Rd.

If there is anyone that would like to do this I can give you more information.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

1968 AH Sprite - sold, sniff
1970 MG BGT - sold
1967 Sunbeam Alpine - first LBC 25 years ago, also sold
1959 AH Bugeye - hopefull /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Sure - no problems, send me the air tickets and I'm on my way over - or get them left at check in at Heathrow <G>

Thanks for the offer Andrew, but I am looking for someone on this side of the pond. By the way, what are very good Frogeyes going for over there now?

Steve,

I am the web master for the North Texas Club and am probably familiar with this car.

If it is the LaMour's car, I am familiar with it. Have you seen the pictures on our web site ?
I took these and have others.

Well last time I looked, drivers were around ÂŁ4K and immaculates as high as you like! Sold mine for only ÂŁ200, but that was in 1973 <G> Seems most have been re-engined with the (wrong / later) 1200 rather than the original 948, and it also seems rare to find the correct gear ratios as many have boxes out of Morris Minors

Tim,

Sent an email the other day; hope it went to the right place. Would like to talk to you about the sprite.

Thanks - Steve
