POR15 Question

Anyone have good results painting coil springs and sway bars with POR15? Is is flexible enough?

I tried calling them but they are closed for the day and I want to get painting tonight.

Parts look great Steve. Did you blast & prime?
 
Blasted clean, then etched with Metal Ready and rinsed with water.

Also painted the rear axle and all related parts the same way a while back.

Man. I can't wait to get to do that. I also gotta get me an impact driver like that one.
 
When you get the impact driver, get a rubber boot for it like the one on mine in the photo. It just may save your paintwork if the tool goes crazy.
 
Used POR 15 to paint the chassis and rear axle today, with some help from my seven year old. Managed not to get any on her. Using a high density roller really helped to speed up the process. Still it took 2 hours. Had the whole thing media blasted, then Navel Jelly, water and cleaned with thinner. https://new.photos.yahoo.com/paulbos@sbcg...804354690172/71 Lots of work on a 90 degree day :c. The paint levels nicely and a quart did the entire chassis and axel.

While POR-15 can be rather tempramental, personally,
I like the stuff. One quart, entire chassis and axel?

Two hours???

Smooths out nicely?? Placed with help from a seven-year-old?

I haven't looked at your finish, Paul, but I bet it's
nice. Something about the link to pic didn't work for me.

The finish is nice the pictures stink as they were taken with my cell phone. I'll use my camera later for better shots.

"One quart, entire chassis and axel?" Yep had another quart to spare. One hint I picked up if I had to open the new quart was to syringe out the amount you need and then seal the quart using plastic wrap and refig. That way you will not contaminate the Por 15 and you will be able to open the can again.

Big frame and lots of tough areas to paint. The high denisty foam roller made rolling on large areas go quickly and used less paint than the brush.

Nice self leveling finish no brush marks. The seven year old really wanted to paint. I got the frame ready before I brought her over and gave her a roller, gloves and let her at it. She stayed clean. But I found out later I got a little in my hair /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rolleyes.gif. A quick trim and no problems.

It was a triple axel /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/blush.gif
 
I painted a rear axle and brakes in three coats and still had half a can left.

I also applied with a cheap, heavy brush which left deep brush marks behind. Within a minute or two is was glass smooth and dried that way.
